Watch Out For These Four NJ Roofer Red Flags!

Scratch Red Flag Roofers Right Off Your List!

Four Signs A Roofer Is NOT Trustworthy

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of “roofers” in New Jersey. How do you know which ones to trust?

Well, it’s tough.

Some may seem on the up and up. That is until your roofing project begins.

You see, many North and Central New Jersey roof repair companies engage in bad practices, such as improper training, poor installation techniques, inexplicable change orders, long project delays, and disrespectful behavior.

And you must screen every roofer you consider to avoid choosing the wrong one and having a poor experience. What should you look for when you screen them? We’ve identified four red flags you need to avoid at all costs.

#1. Bad Reviews (Or No Reviews At All)

Reviews are like credit scores. If a roofing company has a low review rating, it means its customers have had a poor experience. As a result, you can’t trust them.

If they don’t have any reviews, that’s also a concerning sign. After all, there’s a reason people with no credit have average (at best) credit scores.

So, before you invite a roof and exterior restoration company to your home, check their reviews. If they’re dipping below a 4.5 average or don’t have any reviews, cross them off your list.

So, how are our reviews? Do we walk the talk?

Yes. Our reviews (quite literally) don’t get any better. With 50+ reviews, we have a 5.0 Google rating. That’s the definition of perfect.

#2. Too Good To Be True Quotes

How do companies with less-than-stellar reputations make up for it? They offer low prices. We mean, who doesn’t love a significant discount, right?

Well, honestly, you shouldn’t – at least not regarding your home’s roof and exterior. Your home is too valuable, and the “too good to be true” repair or restoration quote is not honest.

Here’s what we mean.

Many roofing companies will offer low prices for a limited scope of work. Then, after the project begins, they may apply change orders to address issues “they couldn’t have foreseen” during the inspection.

We rarely apply change orders. The price you see is the price you pay – unless we run into something truly crazy and unexpected.

#3. Vague Information About Your Materials And Installers

Even if ‘low-quote roofers’ don’t change your quote, they compromise in other ways. Primarily, they’ll compromise on:

  • The quality of your materials
  • The experience of your installers

Many roofers mix and match materials. They buy shingles from one brand, ventilation from another, and ridge caps from a third manufacturer. They use whichever combination costs the least. To make matters worse, they have inexperienced subcontractors install the parts.

Here’s the problem: This mix-and-match approach voids your warranty for ALL parts and is considered improper installation, which also voids your warranty.

This makes sense.

If one part fails, how does the manufacturer know it wasn’t caused by another part or because the installer made a mistake? They don’t, and they likely won’t cover defects as a result.

At 1Call Restore, we use top-quality materials from the SAME manufacturer – there isn’t any “mixing and matching.” More than that, our installers are experienced and will repair your roof or property’s exterior the RIGHT way on the first try. So, you receive trustworthy, warrantied roof repair services.

#4. High Sales Pressure And Sales Games

The LAST thing you want is a pushy salesperson in your home pressuring you to choose them. And, unfortunately, sales games aren’t uncommon.

Here are a few:

  • There’s the “call my manager” trick, in which the salesperson pretends to secure you a special, discounted rate.
  • There’s the “one-time offer” sales game where the salesperson wants you to sign on the spot. Otherwise, the price will go up.
  • And, in many cases, they’ll tell you that you need a “full roof replacement” when you DON’T. Over 80% of the time, restoration is enough to restore your roof to excellent condition.

We don’t play ANY of these sales games.

Instead, our home visits are educational. We tell you what’s wrong with your roof and how we’ll fix it, and then we allow you to make an informed decision. And if you choose us? We DELIVER lasting results that you’ll love.
